Philadelphia launches green jobs plan
Posted on: January 25, 2017
The City of Philadelphia is advancing its ambitious plan to create 10,000 green jobs over the next 10 years. The Philadelphia Energy Campaign is part of the Philadelphia Energy Authority’s plan to create energy efficiencies, taxpayer savings and sustainable jobs. The $1 billion investment will be aimed at municipal buildings, public schools, low and moderate income residential housing and small business.
We are glad to see the City of Philadelphia making a critical investment in green jobs with this plan. We hope that more investments will be made into this and other high growth, green sectors. We’re proud to be supporting the growth of the green stormwater infrastructure industry which is being catalyzed by Philadelphia’s Green City, Clean Waters plan, and conservatively estimated to have a $3.1 billion economic impact for the city and supporting 1,000 jobs annually. Investments in sustainable industries have far-reaching environmental, social, and economic benefits.
