On October 6, a delegation of New Orleans stakeholders visited Philadelphia to meet with their counterparts who are in similar roles and leading green infrastructure projects. The delegation included New Orleans City Council members and Chiefs of Staff; Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans leaders (equivalent to PWD); foundation leaders (Greater New Orleans Foundation, Surdna Foundation); and reporters from Next City and WNNO (New Orleans’ NPR).

The group spent 2 days visiting with PWD, the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability, the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership, The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Temple University, the William Penn Foundation, and SBN’s GSI Partners.

We believe that Green City, Clean Waters and the GSI Partners are replicable models for cities across the country.  We are excited about the interest New Orleans’ leadership is showing in GSI and Green City, Clean Waters, and look forward to hearing good things about their next steps in this direction and to offering our support to them on strategies to advance a local economy around their investments in this Triple Bottom Line approach.
