City Releases New Online System for Businesses
Posted on: January 08, 2015
Starting in January, the City will begin rolling out a new online system for businesses, called eCLIPSE. The system will allow businesses to handle a host of routine business transactions online – from applying for and renewing business licenses, to making online payments, viewing outstanding inspections, and searching for pertinent business information. This system has the potential to streamline many processes, making doing business in Philadelphia easier.
SBN called on the City to implement this type of online system in our 2011 Taking Care of Business report, which aimed to identify areas that would create a better environment for the start up and advancement of small businesses. We have seen progress on several of our recommendations, and are happy to see this one take shape as well. We are looking forward to seeing how this new online system helps make doing business in Philadelphia a little simpler.
SBN continues to advocate for local, small, and sustainable businesses in the region. Look for our recommendations in January, which include the advancement of Green City, Clean Waters. We are also involved with the Next Great City coalition again this election season, who will be engaging Philadelphia’s Mayoral candidates in the new year.
